Abstract

Ozone therapy is a successfully treatment for lumbar disc herniation and it is supported by numerous clinical studies. We present a case of a 45 years old female with extruded lumbar disc herniation that presented with acute right sciatica and L5 paresis. The patient refused surgical treatment although she was a good candidate. She underwent ozone therapy with ultrasound-guided caudal and foraminal infiltrations (20ml, 20 µg/mL) plus paravertebral infiltrations (10 ml, 20 µg/mL). In ten days the neural pain disappeared. Three months after the initial treatment, she was leading a normal like. An MRI six months after symptom onset showed complete resorption of the hernia.
